Over the last few months, Library & Learning Services staff have been busily picking out furniture, deciding on colors, and looking at all of our spaces with a critical eye for improvements. With student needs in mind, we are proud to unveil some of the new additions and renovations.
HMC II: Material ConneXion Library
See, touch, and experience the first 500 innovative, future-forward materials sourced from around the world for a collection that will grow to 1,500 by 2018. The only Material ConneXion Library in Canada, our materials are curated specifically for Sheridan from the extensive juried collection in the New York flagship Material ConneXion Library. Come see tiles made of recycled skateboards, translucent sheets of bacterial cellulose, construction panels made from recycled drink containers – and more! With its emphasis on sustainability and future-oriented materials the collection will give Sheridan students a creative edge and unique exposure to what’s new and upcoming in the design world.

HMC I: Expansion
We are super excited about the changes happening at HMC 1! With significantly more seating space than ever before, and new collections for the new program additions to HMC Campus, the library is sure to continue to be a hub of activity at this growing campus. Here’s a quick run down of the additions:
- Expanded study space that now includes space on the 1st floor
- 108 additional seating in the quiet and collaborative study areas
- 33 new seats, a fireplace, and more power outlets for the silent study room
- 6 additional computers, and 1 additional printer on the 1st floor
- A larger Tutoring Centre located on the 1st floor
- An Academic Integrity Office
- A larger Assistive Technology room
- An additional large group study room
Davis J-Wing: New Tutoring Centre Location
For the last few years, Davis students looking to receive extra support through Tutoring services have had to hike it up to the 3rd floor of the J-Wing. Well, no more! The new Tutoring Centre at Davis is now located on the first floor of the J-Wing in the old J-104 classroom, next to the Tim Horton’s. Bigger, closer, and better than ever.
Davis A-Wing: New Learning Commons
The new A-Wing at the Davis Campus boasts a big, beautiful Learning Commons. Set in the center of the building, on the second floor over-looking the workspaces below, the A-Wing Learning Commons is set to be the focal point of this new wing. The space can accommodate 150 students, and consists of collaborative space, quiet space, and group study rooms, with plenty of plug ins for laptops.
We hope you enjoy all of the improvements!
Please contact Marian Traynor if you have any questions or comments about these new additions.
