LIBRARY SUMMER HOURS

The Sheridan Library summer hours for July and August 2009 will be Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm and Saturday and Sunday 11:00am to 4:00pm.  Regular library hours will resume in September.

LIBRARY SERVICES FOCUS GROUP WINNER ANNOUNCED

Sheridan Library Services administered questionnaires to students who took part in Information Literacy workshops during the Winter 2009 academic term.  Some students subsequently volunteered their time to take part in a focus group discussion to provide additional feedback.  The names of focus group participants were entered in a draw for a Chapter’s gift certificate. The winner of the certificate was Arwa Sheikhalzoor.

The Library will be closed on Friday, April 10, 2009 for the Good Friday statutory holiday.

THINK PINK WEEK A SUCCESS @ LIBRARY SERVICES

 

From January 26 – 31, Library Services hosted a number of events in support of Sheridan College’s Think Pink Week initiative, which aims to promote awareness of Breast Cancer.   With the generous donations of students and staff who participated in our events, both the Davis and Trafalgar libraries together were able to raise approximately $152.07 for Breast Cancer Research. 

Congratulations to Patricia Hacker (Davis) and Talisa Caballero (Trafalgar), both of whom won a $25 gift card to Chapters in the Library Services’ Think Pink Grand Prize draw.        

Many thanks also to our Library Services Peer Mentors, without whom the Library Services’ Think Pink campaign would not have been possible.

Library Hours during the Holiday Break

Starting December 15^th, the library will be open weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm with no weekend hours. 

On December 24^th, the library will close at 1:00pm and reopen January 5^th.

Regular hours resume January 12^th.

LIBRARY WEEK SUGGESTION CONTEST WINNERS

Congratulations to the winners of our first ever Library Week Suggestion Contest.

The winners are as follows:

1st prize: Jesse Aleks ($10 Tim Horton’s gift certificate)

Suggestion:

“Play some calm, relaxing music [in the library],like beethoven’s
symphony 9.”

2nd prize: Essra Al-ashrafi (Tim Horton’s commemorative coffee tin full of coffee)

Suggestion:

“Provide a variety of fiction books and magazines, have in each week a
theme, for example Breast Cancer.  Just put in front of library like
think pink” which represent to think about these people.  This in one
example of other themes that you can put each week so people will be
benefit from these themes.  Also, you can provide activity that is
related to that theme.”
